The mission of the St. Matthew's Episcopal Social Services Payee Representative Program is to: Provide a service, which helps clients with disabilities to manage and budget their Social Security benefits. This free service is accomplished by meeting with the client once a week. After the rent and utilities have been paid, the remainder of the money is spent on food, personal needs, and other expenses.
Give encouragement to clients by extending to them a caring and helping hand of friendship.
Give support to the client's needs by finding sources, which furnish items such as basic furniture, clothing, etc.
Reinforce stability by explaining the process of managing and budgeting so in the future the clients will be able to manage on their own.
Assist the clients to establish a purpose in life, and set goals. Extend respect to the clients by making them feel that their ideas and wishes are important.
Provide pleasure for the clients by furnishing refreshments every Tuesday morning, as well as having holiday parties and other enjoyable experiences such as cooking classes.
The mission of the Payee Program is one way of fulfilling the larger mission of St. Matthew's which is to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ. If you can picture your name above, let us know!
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITYThe Payee program needs a volunteer with computer skills to work on setting up client accounts on Microsoft Money on our new computer. We are using that program to keep track of the client's monthly balances. As always, we can also use volunteers to work with our clients on their bills on Tuesday mornings. Call 283-3310 for volunteer opportunities! A big thanks to the P.E.F. (Permanent Endowment Fund) which bought our new computer for us! |
